Preparing students for further education and life beyond
As the only school in Northern Jutland, Hasseris Gymnasium & IB World School offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, preparing students for further education and life beyond. The IB Diploma, as this exam is called, is developed by the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO), a non-profit educational organisation, which was founded in 1968 with the aim of developing intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. Currently, IB programmes for children and young people can be found in more than 6000 schools in approximately 160 countries. At Hasseris Gymnasium & IB World School we have around 170 students from many different countries and with various cultural backgrounds. The IB Diploma Exam is recognized worldwide as a university admission exam. In Denmark it is likewise accepted for admission for further education on equal terms with stx, hhx and htx.
The basic IB structure
The teaching language for IB is primarily English, and the curriculum differs in various ways from that of the Danish STX.
The IB is a two-year programme that is equivalent to the Danish 2.g and 3.g (STX). However, many also attend the PreIB class which is a one-year prepatory class more or less similar to the Danish 1.g (STX).
IB made me look at our world not just from another perspective, but from many different perspectives. IB helped me become a world-citizen before anything else
