THE IB MISSION STATEMENT

»The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.«

Though expressed in different ways, the IB Mission Statement and the Mission Statement of Hasseris Gymnasium share views on the ethos and purpose of youth education. Both place great value on personal integrity and responsibility as well as academic honesty and ask students to be actively engaged in and take a personal responsibility for their education while aspiring to achieve the highest academic goals.

We focus on

  • students involving themselves in school life and showing concern for their own wellbeing and the wellbeing of others.

We focus on

  • students developing an attitude to society characterized by openness and critical reflection.
  • students reflecting on a sustainable development locally as well as globally in their academic work.
  • the school being constantly open to outside inspiration.
  • students orienting themselves towards the future with the possibilities and challenges that it may bring.

COMMUNITY

We focus on:

  • a democratic and open environment which supports influence on and participation in decision making processes.
  • accepting everyone who is motivated for and capable of getting a Danish Upper Secondary School Leaving Exam (stx – studentereksamen) or an IB Diploma Exam.
  • mutual respect and tolerance of differences.
  • being a school that encourages a cheerful outlook on life.

CREATIVITY

We focus on:

  • stimulating academic curiosity and creative learning in all subjects.
  • being a dynamic school with exciting activities during and outside school hours.
